Schedule:
9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
CPI has an immediate opening for an Advanced Electrical Engineer to support the design and development of complex, mission-critical electrical hardware systems. The selected engineer will participate in all phases of the program lifecycle, including requirements analysis, schematic capture, routing constraint definition, PCB/PWB layout oversight, and hardware integration, testing, and qualification

, contributing to high-performance electrical designs and ensuring successful transition from prototype to production for advanced system applications.
- Perform schematic design and circuit development for digital and mixed-signal hardware.
- Define routing constraints and direct PCB/PWB layout and routing activities
. - Support manufacturing, integration, testing, and qualification of hardware systems.
- Conduct signal and power integrity analysis to validate design performance.
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware meets system-level requirements.
- Utilize engineering tools and lab test equipment to troubleshoot and validate electrical designs.
- Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and documentation throughout the program lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes, materials, and methods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field.
- Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience, or Master’s degree plus 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in schematic capture and circuit design for advanced digital systems.
- Familiarity with high-speed and high-density circuit card design incorporating FPGAs, DDR memory, and embedded processors
. - Skilled in using oscilloscopes, Ethernet testers, and other lab diagnostic tools for validation and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of the hardware development process and lifecycle phases.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract requirements.
- Experience using Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition for schematic entry, constraint management, and analysis.
- Working knowledge of Hyper Lynx Signal Integrity/Power Integrity analysis tools.
- Background in fiber optic interface design and advanced PCB/PWB packaging techniques.
- Knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to lead discussions and gain buy-in on design approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to persevere through complex design challenges with minimal supervision.
- On-site position in Bloomington, MN.
- Flexible 9/80 schedule available (every other Friday off).
