Electrical CAD Technician

$25.20/hr - $27.30/hr

Location: Bloomington, MN.
Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Our client is seeking a motivated Electrical CAD Technician to support their engineering and design teams in producing detailed electrical drawing packages for infrastructure projects. This role is key in transforming engineering concepts into high-quality, constructible drawings by working closely with designers, engineers, and project managers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to develop technical skills in a dynamic environment.

• Create and revise 2D electrical drawings, including one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, conduit and cable routing plans, grounding plans, panel layouts, and termination diagrams.
• Prepare instrument location plans, I/O layouts, and loop diagrams for instrumentation projects.
• Develop construction drawing packages under the direction of engineers and designers in accordance with client and company standards.
• Incorporate redlines, complete as-built updates, and maintain document control.
• Participate in internal quality checks and drawing reviews.
• Assist in preparing plot plans, equipment layouts, and 3D markups when needed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to coordinate drawing deliverables.
• Contribute to CAD process improvements and drafting efficiencies.
• Perform miscellaneous project support tasks as assigned while adhering to company policies and safety standards.

• High school diploma or GED required; coursework in drafting or CAD-related technology preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant CAD experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD required - Microstation 2D, 3D, and Inventor a PLUS
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches, redlines, and markups.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
