We are seeking a Senior Art Specialist & Merchandiser to drive the success of our Art category. This role is designed for a subject matter expert who understands that how an item is presented is just as important as what the item is.

• Conduct high-level cataloging for art pieces, ensuring precise attribution, medium identification, and condition reporting.
• Perform detailed research using web resources, provenance records, and expert contacts to verify the authenticity of escalated or high-value art items.
• Maintain an understanding of auction laws, artist rights (droit de suite), and CITES regulations regarding various materials.

• Curate and sequence art lots into daily auctions and high-profile specialty sales to maximize bidder engagement and final sale value.
• Monitor market trends to determine the best timing and "story" for specific art collections or artists (e.g., Mid-Century Modern, Contemporary, or Classical European).
• Work with the Merchandising team to meet line-of-business goals.

• Assist the Quality and Authentication manager on art-related inquiries, training new team members on art handling, identification, and cataloging standards.

• Deep, verifiable knowledge of Art history and the current secondary market (Fine Art, Asian Art, and Decorative Arts).
• 3+ years in an auction house, gallery, or appraisal setting with a focus on merchandising and valuation.
• An innate ability to group items in a way that tells a story and drives competitive bidding.
• Ability to balance the meticulous nature of art research with the fast-paced production schedule of EBTH.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or Museum Studies preferred.
• Comfortable working within digital inventory management systems and online auction platforms.
