Job Summary
We are looking for a Data Solutions Engineer to join the IT team in Blue Ash, OH. The ideal candidate will be a versatile professional who combines data engineering, business intelligence development, and database administration skills. This role will involve managing data infrastructure, developing reporting solutions, ensuring data quality across all systems, and supporting critical platform transitions during a period of significant company growth.
- Business Intelligence & Reporting:
Collaborate with company and IT leadership to gather report requirements, design and develop complex reports and dashboards using Power BI as the primary BI platform, maintain and optimize Power BI data models, DAX calculations, and refresh schedules, ensure workspace governance and security best practices, and support user adoption through training and comprehensive documentation. - Database Administration & Performance:
Manage and maintain MSSQL databases ensuring high availability and optimal performance, design and optimize database schemas, indexing strategies, and stored procedures, monitor and tune SQL queries, implement security policies and backup strategies, and perform proactive database health checks and maintenance. - Data Integration & Pipeline Management:
Support and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes to ensure seamless data integration across systems, develop and maintain Azure Data Factory (ADF) pipelines for data movement and transformation, manage data ingestion processes including potential Snowflake implementations, and build data pipelines to support organizational data flow. - Data Quality & Governance:
Gather, clean, and interpret data to ensure quality and meaningful analyses, troubleshoot data quality issues, and maintain data integrity across all systems and reporting platforms. - Documentation & Communication:
Provide comprehensive support documentation for each reporting asset delivered, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience) - Experience:
2–5+ years of hands‑on experience in data management roles - Skills:
Strong proficiency in SQL and database management (MSSQL required), experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development, demonstrated expertise in Power BI development including report creation, data modeling, and DAX, experience with Power BI service administration and deployment pipelines, strong documentation and communication skills - Certifications:
Not required but beneficial - Other:
Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. (sponsorship not available), ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) or similar cloud‑based ETL tools
- Knowledge of Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms
- Python or Power Shell scripting abilities
- Power BI certification or experience with advanced Power BI features (Row Level Security, Incremental Refresh, Composite Models)
- Retail or multi‑location business experience
- Experience with POS or eCommerce data systems
- Familiarity with PCI DSS compliance requirements
