Position: REGISTERED NURSE-STAFF-WEEKENDS

Job Overview

This position applies the nursing process in providing direct and indirect holistic care to patients and their families. The role collaborates collegially with physicians and other health care team members, may delegate aspects of care to those under direct supervision, and requires weekend hours and on‑call evenings and nights. Flexibility is essential.

Job Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Must obtain BSN within 5 years of hire
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Knowledge, judgment, and skills derived from the Principles of Biological, Physical, Behavioral, Social, and Nursing sciences to meet complex health care needs at various stages of the life cycle
  • Preferred membership in related professional organization
  • Up to 1 year experience Clinical in Nursing unit‑specific area
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessment of patient and family; complete assessment tools and document per unit/Tri Health guidelines.
  • Plan care based on assessment, standards of care, and optimal specific outcomes; initiate and individualize appropriate care guidelines or clinical pathways; update plan of care as needed.
  • Provide a safe, therapeutic environment, maintain patient autonomy, dignity, and rights, and be sensitive to patient diversity.
  • Recognize emergency situations and take appropriate action; complete patient assignment including documentation within scheduled timeframe.
  • Base interventions on clinical data and desired outcomes; document accordingly.
  • Trains/educates other staff and acts as an expert resource in specialty area through existing and newer knowledge and skills.
  • Carry out physician orders; safely administer medications/treatments and monitor their effects; use equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with patient/family and other health care team members, including physicians, to revise plan of care as needed.
  • Supervise care delegated to other health care team members.
  • Assume organizational and educational responsibilities; identify areas for professional and self‑improvement through self‑assessment and peer review, continuing education, and professional organization membership or certification.
  • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues; provide constructive feedback regarding skills and knowledge; maintain awareness of ongoing continuous improvement changes and support changes through active participation.
