Job Summary
Heartland Financial Group, an Integrity company in Blue Springs, MO, is looking for an Accountant to join the team. The Accountant manages financial processes and daily tasks, including reconciling bank statements, updating expense files, processing financial transactions, and posting them in the general ledger. They also compile reports, conduct month‑end and year‑end close, assist with audits, and prepare tax documents.
Primary Responsibilities- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare financial statements, analyze data for trends, create budgets, and report on costs, margins, and expenditures. - Month/Year-End Close:
Manage and execute the monthly and yearly closing process, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. - Ledger & Transaction Management:
Oversee general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and bank reconciliations. - Compliance & Audits:
Ensure adherence to accounting standards (GAAP) and regulations, assist with internal/external audits, and prepare tax documents. - Process Improvement:
Develop and implement new accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency. - Leadership:
Supervise, train, and guide junior accountants and accounting staff. - Collaboration:
Liaise with management, executives, and other departments for financial strategy and support.
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required.
- 3+ years of accounting experience is highly preferred.
- BA/BS in Business or Accounting is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required, including but not limited to VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and quantitative skills.
