Job SummaryMeyer Lab is seeking a detail‑oriented Director of Accounting to oversee and maintain accurate company financial systems, processes, and statements including profit & loss statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The director will manage treasury functions, including banking, credit cards, and financing lines, compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, lead financial audits, direct the accounting team, and partner with external consultants on tax, payroll and other financial matters.
Responsibilities- Assist the President, CFO, and executive leadership team with gathering and analyzing data and reports for timely financial decisions.
- Create and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports such as profit and loss statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and forecasts.
- Continuously evaluate accounting practices and implement process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure accounting processes operate within a strong internal control environment, minimizing risk.
- Ensure accounting practices meet legal and regulatory requirements and adhere to GAAP.
- Provide suggestions to reduce costs and maximize profits.
- Administer multi‑state and international payroll activities in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Calculate and process all payroll adjustments, deductions, earnings, and garnishments.
- Analyze payroll data for new hires, terminations, payroll tax reporting, insurance deductions, and 401(k) contributions.
- Manage calculations, payment and reconciliation of commission programs.
- Monitor vendor payment agreements to identify discounts that yield savings.
- Research and resolve accounting or financial issues.
- Participate in and manage special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with active CPA license.
- Minimum of five years of experience leading accounting teams, with prior payroll experience.
- Solid knowledge of accounting and financial processes, including budgeting, closure, reporting, and cost accounting principles related to inventory valuation.
- Understanding of GAAP requirements for business combinations and experience with purchase accounting.
- Demonstrated analytical abilities and ability to connect dots and summarize logical outcomes.
- Demonstrated process improvement skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Advanced Excel) and ERP systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High‑performance leader, problem solver, self‑starter with personal accountability and follow‑through.
