Machinist 2, 2nd shift

Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Machinist 2, 2nd shift. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide.

This position will work second shift Monday - Thursday, 3:15pm - 1:45am

Operates other types of machinery such as numerical control (NC) and computer numerical control (CNC). Operates several machines at once.

• Operates saws and delivers material to operators as needed.
• Operates lift devices (chain hoists, pallet jacks, forklifts).
• Keeps the material area clean and provides assistance with cycle count needs.
• Conducts in-process inspection.
• Prepares/enters/completes work order reporting, transactions, documentation, and non-conformances in applicable software and computer systems.
• Adheres to safety practices, 6S, and follows Fike policies and ISO
  9001.
• Must be able to pass the forklift certificate within 6 months of hire.
• Performs set up on at least one machine.
• Able to set up and run 50% of the product on the primary machine.
• Able to observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
• Performs set up on at least one type of machinery/multiple machines.
• Able to set up and run 80% of the product on the primary machine.
• Able to observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining.
• Makes adjustments and offsets to correct issues on primary machinery/dispatch groups

Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required

The employee is frequently exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or equivalent. One or more years of Vo-Tech, manufacturing, or mechnical exposure experience. Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, work orders and engineered drawings. Demonstrated skills with hand tools and measuring tools (calipers and gauges). Ability to read calipers. Able to perform moderately complex math and computer tasks.
