Assistant Store Manager – O'Reilly Auto Parts

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in sales, customer service, store appearance, and operations. This position manages the store during the Store Manager’s absence or when working opposing shifts and leads the store team in servicing customers.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead the store team members in providing excellent customer service to retail and professional customers.
  • Supervise customer service levels in the retail showroom and ensure team members execute customer service programs (Related sales, Hi5, Rock the Call, Never Say No, Rock the Lot, etc.).
  • Work with the store manager to ensure the retail sales counter is adequately staffed, especially during peak business hours.
  • Assist the store manager in setting team member goals, providing feedback on goal achievement, coaching/mentoring team members, and ensuring ongoing training compliance.
  • Assist in the hiring process by completing recruiting tasks, scheduling and participating in interviews, evaluating candidates, and collaborating with management to select qualified team members.
  • Ensure telephone is answered according to company policy.
  • Process buy online/ship to store, hub-to-store transfers, and DC add orders promptly and contact customers upon shipment arrivals as needed.
  • Utilize the electronic outside purchase order ledger to handle special orders and outside purchases efficiently and per procedure.
  • Process retail customer returns and exchanges efficiently, issue accurate refunds, and manage returned merchandise in the returns area.
  • Invoice all merchandise, including core charges and warranties, before products leave the store.
  • Communicate Zipline messages and delegate Image Maker and merchandising tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure all team members comply with company policies, including posted work schedules, approved changes, and accurate clock‑in/out records.
  • Perform all store opening and closing duties, including day‑end procedures, money deposits, bank deposits, security alarm management, and securing delivery vehicles.
  • Assist the store manager in maintaining the store building, parking lot, exterior signage/lighting, computer hardware, in‑store service/test equipment, and delivery vehicles.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Skills, Education, Knowledge, Experience, and Abilities
  • Required: Sales Specialist Training, Assistant Manager Certification, RSS Certification
  • Desired: Certified Parts Professional Certification; ASE Certification
  • Fluency in multiple languages (Spanish highly desired)
