Overview
Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician
The Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician is an on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for all electrical work. This role involves coordinating the scheduling and execution of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance, and Warranty work. The technician will split their time between administrative efforts—planning, scheduling, and documenting work—and field time with the crew performing the work. They will act as the first line of supervision to the electrical crews.
Responsibilities include:
Installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems and components.Act as “Employee in Charge” on some jobs, ensuring that jobs are efficiently planned and safely completed.Read and interpret one-line drawings, schematic drawings, and other service documents, including manufacturer’s instructions and manuals.Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), hand tools, and test equipment.Ensure personal safety and the safety of others in your assigned work area by understanding and complying with safety policies, practices, and procedures.Identify and wear appropriate PPE as required by the task being performed.Understand and adhere to strict Standard Operating Procedures and Switching Plans.Troubleshoot using digital multi-meters, clamp-on ammeters, power quality meters, infrared scanners, and circuit tracers.Perform simple protective relay calibration and commissioning.Conduct point-to-point verification of control wiring.Perform equipment switching, isolation, LOTO, zero volt check, and grounding.Conduct maintenance, tests, and inspections on various electrical equipment, including high voltage SF6 circuit breakers, medium voltage vacuum circuit breakers, and more.Have a working knowledge of NETA MTS testing specifications.Accurately record field data for all tests and inspections utilizing Power DB and Maximo.Assist with start-up services on switch gear and electrical systems up through 138 kV.Conduct safety meetings as required.Ensure compliance with Dean Fluor environmental and safety policies.Maintain strong team and client relationships.Required Skills:
Must be capable of achieving and maintaining TS/SCI security clearance.High school diploma or GED coupled with Electrical Journeyman license or a Technical Degree/Certificate in a related field (e.g., AS in Electrical/Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls or NETA Level II or NICET Level II in Electrical Power Testing).A minimum of five years’ experience in facilities maintenance with thorough understanding of electrical systems, controls, generators, and life safety systems; preferred five years related experience in data center or complex mission-critical environments.Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to efficiently schedule and execute work in a dynamic environment with large numbers of equipment.Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical instructions, plans, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA maintenance practices, maintenance and supply procedures, and quality control procedures.Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex electrical systems, perform damage assessments, estimate maintenance, parts, and manpower requirements, diagnose malfunctions, and employ testing and inspection techniques.Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.Ability to work in confined spaces and on ladders, and to lift equipment over six feet above ground.Must conform to all city, state, and federal licensing and certification requirements.Lifting and physical exertion required.Perform other related duties as requested.Abilities:
Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.Recognizes when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.Applies general rules to specific problems to produce sensible answers.Combines pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.Sees details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).Listens to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.#J-18808-Ljbffr
