Battery TechnicianThe Battery Technician inspects battery systems including monitoring, charging systems, racks, rooms, and enclosures. Inspections include initial, in-process, visual condition, final inspections, maintenance operational checks, and failure analysis.
- Certifies that systems and components adhere to quality standards established by applicable codes, publications, checklists, and specifications.
- Resolves technical problems encountered. Logs work in Maximo and recommends system improvements.
- Organizes resources for maintenance, installation, and inspection of Vented Wet Cell and VRLA batteries and related components.
- Inspects battery charging and monitoring equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Maintains operating service records for batteries.
- Recommends additional maintenance or battery replacements based on preventative maintenance findings.
- May be assigned additional duties for training or to meet work requirements or emergencies.
The Battery Technician inspects battery systems, including monitoring, charging systems, racks, rooms, and enclosures. Inspections include initial, in-process, visual condition, and final inspections, maintenance operational checks, and failure analysis.
- Certifies adherence to quality standards.
- Resolves technical issues and logs work in Maximo.
- Organizes maintenance and inspection of batteries and related components.
- Inspects and maintains battery and charging equipment.
- Maintains battery service records.
- Recommends maintenance or replacements.
- May perform additional duties for training or emergency response.
Examples of duties include maintaining proper temperature and ventilation of battery rooms, inspecting, installing, cleaning batteries, taking voltage and resistance readings, filling batteries, recharging, replacing batteries, installing inter-cell straps, performing discharge tests, and keeping service logs.

- Alber battery test equipment
- Insulated hand tools
- BTECH monitoring equipment and software
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of IEE battery maintenance and quality control procedures
- Proficiency with laptops and electronic communication devices
- Lifts at least 100 pounds, and 60 pounds for extended periods
- Can work at heights up to 60 feet and climb scaffolds, lifts, and ladders
- Physical ability to walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead
- Good vision and color perception; able to hear and communicate effectively in English
- Recognize problems or potential issues
- Apply rules to specific problems and draw conclusions
