Position OverviewThe Lead Electrical Maintenance Technician acts as the on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for all electrical work. Responsibilities include coordinating the scheduling and execution of Preventative, Predictive, Corrective Maintenance, and Warranty work. The role involves a balance between administrative planning, scheduling, and documenting, as well as field supervision of the electrical crew. This position serves as the first line of supervision for the electrical team.
KeyDuties
- Ensure electrical maintenance is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Installation, maintenance, testing, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems and components.
- Act as “Employee in Charge” on certain jobs, ensuring efficient planning and safety.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and service documents.
- Maintain PPE, hand tools, and test equipment.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures, ensuring team safety.
- Utilize troubleshooting tools such as digital multimeters, infrared scanners, and circuit tracers.
- Perform calibration, testing, and inspections on various electrical equipment, including high and low voltage systems.
- Record test data accurately using Power DB and Maximo.
- Assist with start-up services on electrical systems up to 138 kV.
- Conduct safety meetings and maintain strong client relationships.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to achieve and maintain TS/SCI security clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED, plus Electrical Journeyman License or relevant technical degree/certification (e.g., AS in Electrical/Electronics, NETA Level II, NICET Level II).
- Minimum five years’ experience in facilities maintenance with a focus on electrical systems, controls, generators, and life safety systems.
- Leadership skills with experience in scheduling and executing work in complex environments.
- Proficiency in reading technical instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, NETA maintenance practices, and related procedures.
- Ability to evaluate electrical systems, perform damage assessments, and diagnose malfunctions.
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, and at heights up to 60 feet.
- Lift at least 100 pounds and work at heights up to 60 feet.
- Climb and balance on scaffolds, lifts, and ladders.
- Visual and auditory acuity to perform detailed inspections and communicate effectively.
