Position Description AdvertisedJob Summary
The University of South Carolina Beaufort seeks dynamic and forward-thinking candidates for an Instructor of Communication Studies and Director of Student Media position within the Department of Business, Hospitality, and Communication Studies. The Instructor of Communication Studies and Director of Student Media will supervise the development of a website containing student-created content, both in textual and visual formats, for the USCB community.
The nature of the content will vary but a priority will be placed on news. The responsibilities of the Director of Student Media include supporting the production and distribution of content on deadline; supervising student recruitment; establishing the ethical standards of the organization; facilitating training opportunities for students; and overseeing the organization’s budget. The successful candidate will work with the program coordinator and other members of the faculty to ensure that the organization mirrors the pedological needs of the Communication Studies program.
As an Instructor of Communication Studies, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses on any of our three campuses in broadcasting and/or digital media, including, but not limited to, introductory video production, social media management, and podcasting. Due to the responsibilities associated with overseeing student media, the instructor will teach on a 4/4 load. Instructional modality is primarily face-to-face, complemented by offerings delivered hybrid or online.
Education and Experience
- A master’s degree in communication/communication studies/mass communication or master’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 18 graduate credits in communication.
