In our Retail locations, our Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence in the pharmacy by acting as a role model, demonstrating genuine care and setting high standards. The Staff Pharmacist supports the Pharmacy Manager in leading and directing the pharmacy team, and is accountable for the management, oversight, and operation of all aspects within the pharmacy.

• Live our purpose by safely dispensing, counseling, and immunizing patients.
• Take direction from the Pharmacy Manager and oversee the pharmacy as proxy during bench shifts, strengthening performance measures through coaching and consistent follow‑up.
• Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.
• Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy, coaching the team to do the same, and resolving insurance/medication issues.
• Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.
• Manage pharmacy inventory following best practices, especially protecting cold chain products.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and report issues to the Pharmacy Manager or Rx DL.
• Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including writing the pharmacy schedule as directed.
• Maintain clinical and technical skills through required training and CMEs, and seek opportunities to expand knowledge.
• Provide pharmacist delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception, etc.) where permitted.
• Comply with all federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing and record keeping.

• Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located.
• Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Complete required training within designated timeframe.
• Attention and focus on tasks, accuracy, and patient safety.
• Customer service and team orientation with friendly help and responsiveness.
• Strong communication skills, active listening, and clear written/vocal communication.
• Mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
• Issue resolution and decision‑making skills.
• Physical demands: mobile, standing, lifting up to 20 lbs., repetitive finger use, etc.
• Additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

• 1‑2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.
• Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.

$60.00 – $76.00 per hour. This range represents the base hourly rate for all positions in the job grade.
