Position: Registered Nurse- PRN (No weekends, holidays or call!)

Registered Nurse- PRN (No weekends, holidays or call!)

We’re looking for PRN Registered Nurses to join the team at Charleston ENT & Allergy. Your key focus will be caring for patients from pre‑operative to post‑operative stages. PRN nurses do not work weekends, holidays, or call.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel for recovery room management.
  • Organize nursing activities efficiently, considering staff abilities when delegating tasks.
  • Use equipment effectively by anticipating patient needs and providing appropriate care.
  • Confirm that proper techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Assist in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the postoperative area.
  • Maintain order and cleanliness of the postoperative area.
  • Perform safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the immediate postoperative/post‑anesthesia period.
  • Assess and document the patient’s physical and emotional status upon arrival in the recovery room.
  • Document post‑anesthesia care and identity of the second person in the recovery room during the patient’s recovery from anesthesia/sedation according to approved policies and procedures.
  • Provide nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered.
  • Monitor patients and inform surgeon or anesthetist of observed complications.
  • Perform a thorough postoperative patient assessment prior to discharge.
  • Assist in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient in preparation for discharge.
  • Develop a plan of care for the patient based on the assessment data.
  • Review postoperative instructions and prescriptions from the surgeon with patient and significant other and document in the patient’s medical record.
  • Inform patient and family about appropriate care and procedures to follow upon returning home.
  • Determine that patient and significant other understand conditions that require immediate care or methods to obtain immediate care.
  • Provide comfort and reassurance to the patient and promote privacy and dignity.
