An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administration Assistant to join our Adult Community Treatment Team. The role will primarily be based at the Plessey Centre in Blyth, though the post holder will at times also be required to travel to other local bases, including West Farm House in Cramlington. Travel expenses will be paid where appropriate and in line with Trust policy.
The post holder must be able to use own initiative, work under pressure, uphold confidentiality, keep to strict deadlines and have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Take incoming calls, deal with day‑to‑day queries, update the patient information system (RiO), sort incoming/outgoing post and take notes at team meetings.
- Complete work from a shared inbox/work tray and reception duties, cover reception, greet clients, answer calls and provide administrative support to the clinical team as required.
- Take accurate messages, respond to queries, report jobs to estates, and order supplies as required.
- Work from a shared inbox, arrange appointments and meetings, type letters and reports, note‑take at meetings, update client details and maintain our patient information system.

This role is based within a mental health service and may involve regular exposure to sensitive, distressing or emotionally challenging situations. The post holder may have contact (in person or via telephone) with service users experiencing acute mental health difficulties, and may handle confidential information relating to complex or traumatic circumstances. Applicants should therefore be able to demonstrate resilience, emotional awareness, and the ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and compassion at all times.
This is a non‑clinical role and the post holder will be expected to work strictly within the boundaries of the role, referring any clinical queries or requests for advice to the appropriate qualified professional.
- Administration experience working within a team.
- RSA/OCR Level 2 Typing qualifications or equivalent.
- Experience in a customer / patient and service user focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A good understanding of IT systems including RIO (training given to those who have not worked on this system before).
- A good knowledge of Microsoft Word/Office packages and typing skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Note taking skills.
- Ability to be self‑directed, motivated and to contribute positively within a team.
- Well organised and structured.
- The post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in the role.
