Our client is a leading international main contractor specialising in the delivery of hyperscale data centres and mission-critical infrastructure across Europe. They are seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team delivering a major phase of one of Europe's largest and most significant digital infrastructure program mesa landmark £10bn hyperscale data centre campus in Blyth.
Spanning more than a decade, this flagship development will redefine digital infrastructure in the UK. Working alongside the Commercial Manager and MEP project teams, you will be responsible for the commercial management of the Mechanical & Electrical packages, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining programme, quality and contractual performance across this technically complex project.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the commercial aspects of Mechanical & Electrical packages from procurement through to final account.
- Prepare tender enquiries, evaluate subcontract returns and assist with subcontract procurement.
- Administer M&E subcontract agreements, ensuring contractual compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment and commercial reporting.
- Assess subcontractor applications, variations, compensation events and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, budgets and cash flow, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with the MEP Project Managers and site teams to ensure commercial objectives align with programme delivery.
- Support the management of contract changes, claims and cost recovery.
- Prepare cost reports and forecasts for senior commercial management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and specialist MEP subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and contractual obligations.
- Previous experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor, Mechanical Quantity Surveyor or Electrical Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Experience working on data centres, mission-critical facilities, commercial, pharmaceutical, industrial or major infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical building services installations and associated commercial practices.
- Experience administering NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical, negotiation and cost management skills.
- Experience managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
