We are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a major, high-profile construction project.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to gain valuable experience working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex, large-scale development, with excellent opportunities for professional and career progression.
The RoleAs an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of the project, working closely with the Quantity Surveyor and wider project team to ensure costs, contracts, and commercial performance are effectively managed.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation and management of project budgets and cost forecasts.
- Supporting the preparation and submission of interim valuations and payment applications.
- Assisting with subcontract procurement, tender analysis and package management.
- Monitoring project costs, variations and change control.
- Assisting with the preparation and agreement of subcontractor accounts.
- Reviewing subcontractor applications, variations and supporting documentation.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and cost reports.
- Supporting the Quantity Surveyor with monthly reporting and forecasting.
- Assisting with the management of commercial risks and opportunities.
- Working collaboratively with the site, design, procurement and project management teams.
We are looking for someone who is commercially aware, organised and keen to develop their career within the construction industry.
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Graduate Quantity Surveyor role.
- A degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- Experience with in the construction or civil engineering sector.
- Good understanding of construction contracts and commercial principles.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
