Pupil Engagement Coach
We are seeking Pupil Engagement Coaches to work within our partner specialist schools. This nurturing setting provides a therapeutic, relationship-based curriculum for young people with a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
Many pupils experience emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), the impact of developmental or relational trauma, and difficulties with emotional regulation, which can sometimes present as anger outbursts or heightened emotional responses. A number of pupils also have learning difficulties, with some holding additional diagnoses such as ASD and/or ADHD.
Pupils may follow either a primary-style, nurture-led pathway or a more formal secondary pathway, depending on individual need.
There are multiple permanent opportunities available for individuals who commit to the school’s ethos, demonstrate consistency, and build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Hours:
8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Experience supporting children or vulnerable adults
- The ability to provide two recent references (employment or voluntary)
- An Enhanced Child & Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service, OR be willing to apply for one through Milk Education
- Provide consistent, trauma-informed support within the classroom and wider school environment
- Act as a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, engagement, attendance, and behaviour using relational approaches
Work within small classes to help pupils feel safe, understood, and ready to learn - Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and resilience across the school day
- Support pupils across both nurture-led and formal learning pathways
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, SENCOs, and therapists
- Contribute to behaviour support and pastoral care plans
- Attend ongoing training and professional development, including physical intervention training
- Adapt engagement strategies to meet individual emotional and learning needs
