A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join the project delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Blyth, Northumberland.
The Electrical Project Manager will take responsibility for delivering high-value electrical packages from design coordination and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover. The project scope will include HV and LV distribution, transformers, generators, UPS systems, switch gear, busbar, containment, cabling, lighting, fire alarm, security, BMS and EPMS interfaces.
Working closely with the Project Director, MEP management team, consultants, specialist subcontractors and client representatives, you will ensure that electrical works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required technical and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Project Manager Electrical Project Delivery- Take overall responsibility for assigned electrical packages from pre-construction through final handover.
- Develop and implement the electrical project delivery strategy.
- Ensure electrical works are delivered safely, within budget and in accordance with the project programme.
- Establish clear package objectives, milestones and responsibilities.
- Coordinate electrical activities with mechanical, CSA, architectural and specialist systems packages.
- Monitor package performance and implement corrective actions where required.
- Identify design, procurement, construction and commissioning risks at an early stage.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Project Director and senior management team.
- Ensure client requirements and contractual obligations are understood by the electrical delivery team.
- Manage the delivery of HV, MV and LV electrical distribution systems.
- Oversee the installation of transformers, generators, UPS systems and electrical switch gear.
- Coordinate busbar, containment, cabling, earthing, bonding and lightning-protection systems.
- Manage lighting, emergency lighting, small-power and general services installations.
- Coordinate fire alarm, security, ICT and life-safety system interfaces.
- Oversee electrical requirements associated with BMS and EPMS installations.
- Coordinate vendor-supplied and OFCI electrical equipment.
- Ensure electrical systems are fully integrated with the wider mechanical and controls infrastructure.
- Review system redundancy, resilience and maintainability requirements associated with mission-critical facilities.
- Review Employer's Requirements, specifications, drawings and technical submissions.
- Coordinate electrical design development with consultants, engineers, BIM teams and specialist subcontractors.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with project requirements, applicable standards and client specifications.
- Review single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules and equipment schedules.
- Manage technical submittals, design approvals and material approval processes.
- Coordinate electrical room layouts, equipment access, maintenance clearances and replacement routes.
- Identify design gaps, clashes and buildability concerns before installation.
- Manage technical queries and RFIs through to timely resolution.
- Participate in BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Ensure approved design changes are incorporated into construction information.
- Develop detailed electrical construction programmes with the planning team.
- Establish key milestones for design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Monitor progress against the approved baseline programme.
- Prepare short-term look-ahead plans and track critical electrical activities.
- Identify programme risks and implement recovery measures where required.
- Coordinate subcontractor labour, supervision, materials and equipment requirements.
