Logistics Coordinator Job Overview

A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking an organised and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join the project delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre development in Blyth, Northumberland.

The Logistics Coordinator will support the planning and coordination of site deliveries, materials, traffic movements, storage areas, access routes and logistics documentation. Working closely with the Logistics Manager, construction team, subcontractors, suppliers and security personnel, you will help maintain a safe, efficient and well‑controlled construction site.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Logistics Coordinator, Site Logistics Coordinator or Construction Coordinator looking to develop their career on one of the UK's most significant mission‑critical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Logistics Coordinator Site Logistics Coordination
  • Support the implementation of the project logistics plan throughout the construction programme.
  • Coordinate daily logistics activities, including deliveries, collections, vehicle movements and material distribution.
  • Maintain delivery schedules and ensure planned deliveries align with construction activities and available storage capacity.
  • Monitor site access routes, loading areas, unloading zones and material storage locations.
  • Assist with coordinating cranes, forklifts, telehandlers and other material‑handling equipment.
  • Ensure designated logistics routes and emergency access points remain clear and operational.
  • Help coordinate temporary facilities, welfare areas, hoarding, signage and pedestrian routes.
  • Identify potential logistics constraints and elevate issues to the Logistics Manager.
Delivery Management
  • Operate and maintain the project delivery management and booking system.
  • Review delivery requests and allocate suitable delivery times in accordance with site capacity.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and package managers to confirm delivery requirements.
  • Communicate delivery instructions, site rules, access arrangements and unloading requirements.
  • Monitor delivery performance and address late, missed or unplanned deliveries.
  • Ensure delivery vehicles comply with project access, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections and rejected materials.
  • Support the coordination of abnormal loads and specialist equipment deliveries.
Materials and Storage Management
  • Coordinate the receipt, inspection, allocation and distribution of construction materials.
  • Work with subcontractors and package teams to plan material storage requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of materials received, stored and transferred across the project.
  • Help ensure materials are stored safely, securely and in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
  • Monitor storage areas to prevent congestion, damage, deterioration or loss.
  • Support just‑in‑time delivery strategies to reduce unnecessary site storage.
