Diesel Mechanic Pay Range
  • Paid Weekly
  • Generally $21/hr - $29/hr
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance on forklifts and other diesel equipment.
  • Interpret technical manuals to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot forklift problems including brake, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and repair mast and attachment components.
  • Working knowledge of brake systems and tire/wheel changes.
  • Work on propane, gas, and diesel systems.
  • Replace broken or defective parts and order replacement parts for major repairs.
  • Re-assemble forklifts and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform safety inspections of forklifts prior to release to the work floor.
  • Adhere to all company safety and QA/QC programs and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and changing shifts as needed; punctual attendance is required.
  • Work in a non-climate controlled environment with outdoor exposure.
  • Work independently and follow directions with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years of mechanical experience working on forklifts and diesel engines.
  • Certificate of welding ability is preferred.
  • Must have all required hand tools.
  • Able to work in time-sensitive and sometimes stressful situations.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and machine breakdowns.
  • Able to work independently and follow directions.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull in excess of 50 pounds frequently.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and work in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to crawl and perform bending, stooping, and carrying.
  • Exposed to temperature fluctuations, dust, and noise; all listed physical demands are essential functions.
