Position

summary

Perform welding activities in the fabrication of materials required for the installation and maintenance of the gas distribution system and facilities. Conduct construction and maintenance functions safely and efficiently, following company policies and procedures.

Pay Range

Level I: $28.05 - $42.12 per hour

Senior: $31.56 - $47.24 per hour

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates proficient welding skills in the fabrication of materials required for the installation and maintenance of the gas distribution system and facilities.
  • Performs stopping, hot tapping, and by‑passing of steel and polyethylene pipelines. Thorough understanding of the mechanical procedures and safety precautions associated with the use of related equipment.
  • Follow company safety policy and training procedures by utilizing safe work and driving habits to ensure customer and employee safety.
  • Install and maintain the gas distribution system in a safe and efficient manner to comply with current company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for inspection duties per company policies including completion of required documentation, digital as‑built, contractor oversight and supervision.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on construction equipment, vehicles and tools to ensure maximum utilization and cost effectiveness.
  • Complete record‑keeping associated with construction and maintenance operations to ensure that work done is accounted for properly and that accurate up‑to‑date records are maintained for future reference.
  • Resolve customer complaints within company policy to ensure customer satisfaction; maintain good customer relations and promote company products and services through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Achieve and maintain all Operator Qualifications applicable to the job classification.
  • May be required to work non‑traditional hours as needed. Be available for and provide emergency response after regular business hours.
  • Required to carry a company‑provided cell phone and be available to respond during working and non‑working hours.
  • Other duties as required.
What Is Required
  • All Levels:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.
    • This role will be required to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Level I:
    • Minimum of 1 year of welder operations or other relevant experience.
    • Achieve company welding certification within 6 months of hire.
    • Obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of hire.
  • Senior:
    • Minimum of 3 years of welder operations or other relevant experience.
    • Welding and fusion certificates upon hire.
    • Obtain a Class A CDL within 6 months of hire.
What Is Desired
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent welding experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high‑pressure systems.
  • Operate all plastic fusion equipment including all tools required for maintenance and emergency on plastic pipelines.
  • Operate micrometers, calipers, and thickness testing equipment.
  • Work from job‑related blueprints, sketches and diagrams.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the public.
  • Ability to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required job schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Job planning and organization skills.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
