Salary Range: Approx. $36.30/hr
Schedule: Full-time (40 hrs/wk), subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, holidays
Travel: Required to job sites for extended periods
- Repair and rebuild railroad track, including pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail.
- Maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage.
- Manually compress ballast, remove/install ties, replace or adjust rail, and lift and carry materials with assistance.
- Operate equipment such as electric, pneumatic or hydraulic hand tools and non‑powered tools.
- Perform work in safety‑sensitive environments with extreme weather, uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and heavy machinery.
- Legal employment authorization without BNSF assistance.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.
- Ability to work safely in the described conditions.
- Ability to work the above shift/hours.
- Travel requirements.
- English reading, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
- Color vision (red, blue, green, yellow).
- Verbal and non‑verbal sound discrimination.
- Use of hands for tasks, occasional climbing, bending, walking, standing, sitting.
- Follow safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Union membership with BMWE required; union dues applicable.
