Responsibilities
  • Part Time - 24 hours per week - 12-hour shifts
  • Night Shift - 6:00pm–6:30am
  • Provides direct patient care under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated health care professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the policies, procedures, and guidelines of the organization.
  • Provides basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assists with mobility and unit-based duties.
  • Acts as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
  • Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors and employees.
  • Documents patient care accurately, precisely and timely as applicable.
  • Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
  • Performs delegated tasks once competency is validated.
  • Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that foster independence and safety.
  • Encourages patient independence and individualizes care based on patient interests and needs.
  • Provides care with consideration of patient age and developmental needs as described in departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Licensing/Certification
    • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
    • Must have completed one of the following: nursing aide training program; STNA (State Tested Nursing Aide) or CNA certification; nursing program with relevant clinical experience; or 1 year of relevant clinical experience
  • Work Experience
    • Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying
  • Training
    • EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred)
  • Skills
    • Ability to clearly communicate with other members of the healthcare team
    • Ability to understand and follow directions of the healthcare team
    • Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations (e.g., falls, skin breakdown, infection prevention)
    • Ability to work in a team and provide compassionate, patient-centered care
    • Ability to collect patient data and document vital signs, intake/output, and changes in condition
    • Ability to assist with feeding, hydration, nutrition, and activities of daily living
    • Ability to assist with bowel and bladder elimination and ambulation

Patient Population
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of patients on the unit
  • Understands development across the life span and can assess data to identify patient requirements by age and needs
  • Includes Neonates (0-4 weeks), Infants (1-12 months), Pediatrics (1-12 years), Adolescents (13-17 years), Adults (18-64 years), Geriatrics (65+)
