Assistant Head of School

The Assistant Head of School will work closely with the Head of School to provide leadership and strategic oversight of academic and co-curricular programming. This role will collaborate with academic leaders and delegate effectively to address both urgent matters pertaining to the successful delivery of the School’s mission and strategic initiatives that require a longer-term focus. This role will ensure all teachers and academic leaders maintain a student centered focus and deliver high-quality teaching and learning.

• Oversee the entire academic and co-curricular program, ensuring the divisions effectively deliver the mission with excellence
• Supervise and support the division heads, the PK-12 Deans, and the department chairs in the performance of their duties, by in part establishing effective systems for communication, collaboration, and use of meeting times
• Coordinate the processes by which academic and co-curricular programs, and PK-12 policies are developed, implemented, reviewed, and updated
• Work closely with the Head of School and others to support and move forward on strategic initiatives including AI
• Organize and administer the School’s faculty performance management program
• Oversee faculty professional development in conjunction with the Head of School, the Dean of Studies, division heads, and department chairs, including: new teacher orientation, professional in-service trainings (e.g. closing days, opening of school trainings), and off-site workshops and conferences
• Organize the processes to identify personnel needs and manage the recruitment and hiring of faculty and academic administrators
• Serve on the Committee on Equity and Justice and work with the Chair of the Committee and Head of School to oversee and implement the Committee’s work to meet its charge and to establish and maintain high standards of professionalism among the Faculty
• Communicate the value of a Saint Andrew’s education to a variety of constituencies Manage the academic program and professional development budgets
• Be a visible presence in all three divisions
• Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

• Extensive leadership experience in independent schools
• Experience developing innovative academic and co-curricular programs
• Demonstrated success leading and mentoring adults
• Excellent organizational skills
• Clear written and oral communication skills
• Collegiality and a willingness to collaborate with colleagues
• Strong work ethic and experience with diverse cultural populations
• Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive work environment
• Possesses problem-solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the school
• Commitment to a growth mindset and continuous professional development
• Residential life experience preferred
