Civil Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mid-Level Civil Engineer with a focus on water and wastewater systems to join our dynamic team.

• Under light supervision, develop engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensure firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Perform site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications and update design requirements as necessary.
• Contribute to Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs; submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs. Review draft proposals for adherence to regulations and best practices.
• Meet with current and potential clients to review design needs. Attend conferences and symposia to improve visibility of the firm’s products and services in collaboration with sales staff.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff. Mentor and develop junior engineers for future growth; may supervise work on project teams.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Travel frequency depends on duties and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Expert knowledge of CADD (3D and 4D), engineering design principles, and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
