As a PRN MRI Technologist
, you will produce cross‑sectional images for medical interpretation using radio frequencies within a magnetic field. You will perform MRI procedures by acquiring and analyzing the data needed for diagnosis, assist licensed practitioners, and prepare contrast administration as required. The position requires flexibility and availability for per‑diem coverage, responding promptly to coverage requests and covering at least one shift in a 30‑day period.

• Be responsible for Patient Safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications and managing patient, staff, and visitor access related to zones and equipment. Exercise judgment and discretion in aseptic injection technique and oversee remote MRI Technologist Assistants.
• Produce high‑quality diagnostic images in accordance with company imaging protocols, Rad Site Accreditation guidelines, and ARRT/ARMRIT practice standards. Demonstrate competency with varying MR equipment and power injection devices. Maintain quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations through process improvement and teamwork.
• Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists, using all necessary channels to address concerns, solve problems, and manage conflict while maintaining patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
• Demonstrate independent competency in contrast safety and administration, including peripheral IV placement, ports, CVLs, and PICC lines as needed. Demonstrate proficiency with Akumin’s EMR, PACS, and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.
• Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators, and MR Technologist Assistants on site or remotely.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
  Associate’s Degree preferred.
• ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT certification acceptable as of contract; ARRT acceptable.
• State license, if applicable.
• CPR Certification, BLS from AHA or ARC; ACLS where applicable.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Minimum 3 years technologist experience.
• Ability to work at multiple locations.
• Strong customer service, organizational, multi‑tasking, and critical thinking skills.
• Basic computer application knowledge.
• Local travel may be required.

• 1 year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging experience.
• Registry in Magnetic Resonance by ARRT.

More than 50% of the time:

• Sit, stand, walk.
• Repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs.
• See, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.

Less than 50% of the time:

• Stoop, kneel, or crawl.
• Climb and balance.
• Carry and lift; transfer non‑ambulatory patients from sitting or lying positions.

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport if working on a mobile unit. The employee will be exposed to a strong magnetic field and potential blood/body fluids.
