The Department of Otolaryngology is currently seeking a full‑time Audiology Assistant 3 for the Northern Clinics. The Audiology Assistant 3 performs tasks that are prescribed, directed, and supervised by a certified and/or licensed audiologist. The Audiology Assistant 3 serves as a mentor to Audiology Assistant 1’s and 2’s through training and professional advisement, and may delegate tasks to them as dictated by clinical needs.
This position masterfully ensures clinics remain on time and can cover for all areas of Audiology Assistant responsibility as needed.
- Supports Audiologist in audiological testing and evaluation, ensuring proper fitting of hearing devices and technology.
- Performs hearing aid orientation, including basic care and use of hearing aid (insertion, removal, adjusting volume, etc.) Demonstrates care and maintenance of hearing devices to patients and support/caretakers.
- Works directly with the Practice Manager to foster the training of junior Assistants in all areas of responsibility.
- Submits signed consents to healthcare centers to initiate retrieval of medical records, pathology slides, x-rays, and other pertinent reports.
- Prepares treatment room for examination of each patient and provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures.
- Assists with examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the Audiologist as directed.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments while observing principles of sterile technique. Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation.
- Manages, organizes, and stocks audiology rooms with all supplies needed by specialty daily and discards expired supplies.
- Evaluates audiology clinic organization and cleanliness weekly, checks hand sanitizer dispensers and reports the need to have them filled and/or to request deep cleaning.
- Assists in performing clerical duties such as answering phone calls and maintaining records.
- Utilizes IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advises front desk personnel of patient delays to maintain daily schedule.
- Greets patients upon arrival and verifies patient information. Directs patient to the clinic or audiology room and ensures the patient is ready for the provider.
- Assists in copying completed patient paperwork, delivering originals to front desk for scanning, and distributing copies to appropriate reading rooms.
- Assists in the distribution of patient label stickers in Audiology.
- Performs daily biologic checks of audiological equipment and documentation and reports any problems with equipment to the appropriate managing staff.
- Reports unusual incidents in a timely manner to appropriate supervisory personnel.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification and Licensing: Audiology Assistant Certification completion within the first three months of employment.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
