Payroll & HR Specialist
The Payroll and HR Specialist is responsible for accurately managing and executing all payroll functions while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and strict processing deadlines. This role includes reviewing payroll data, processing garnishments, advising on payroll policies, and maintaining precise employee records. In addition to payroll duties, the Specialist administers key employee programs-including Paid Time Off and Leave of Absence programs-and manages day-to-day HR transactions, benefits coordination, compensation support, and HRIS data integrity through consistent audits.
This position also plays an essential role in new hire onboarding, conducting benefits presentations, validating COBRA enrollments, and generating HRIS reports. The Specialist supports a variety of HR programs, such as the annual Service Awards Program and Tuition Reimbursement, and handles internal transfers, background checks, organizational charts, and benefits communication. As a member of the HR management team, the Specialist contributes to policy design, HR process improvements, and special HR projects, including organizing lunch-and-learn sessions.
Job Requirements
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Payroll Functions (ES)
- Process and calculate payroll accurately and efficiently to meet mandatory deadlines.
- Review payroll data-including new hires, salary updates, and separations-for accuracy and federal compliance.
- Process garnishments, child support orders, and other required liens.
- Provide guidance on payroll policies and best practices.
- Administer Paid Time Off and Leave of Absence programs.
- Manage day-to-day HR transactions and coordinate benefits, compensation updates, and HRIS management.
- Conduct regular data audits to ensure accuracy of personnel and benefits records.
- Oversee benefit enrollments and terminations for hourly and salaried employees.
- Deliver cross-functional training for new hire onboarding in Boca Raton.
- Ensure proper onboarding procedures for plasma center/field staff, including conducting benefits orientations.
- Validate and confirm COBRA enrollments and terminations.
- Maintain and program the HRIS system, including data verification, cross-system comparison, and quarterly audit reporting.
- Manage Paycom self-service portal updates (documents, information postings).
- Generate HRIS reports, including EEO-1, VETS, turnover, headcount, service awards, and other required metrics.
Additional HR Responsibilities
- Assist with the annual Service Awards Program.
- Coordinate the Tuition Reimbursement Program.
- Manage internal employee transfers and associated documentation.
- Train staff on background check processes, interpret results, and oversee pre-adverse action notifications.
- Maintain and update organizational charts.
- Research and review invoices or bills and authorize payments to vendors and TPAs as needed.
- Communicate benefits information via memos, emails, and quarterly newsletters.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and administration of HR policies and procedures.
- Host lunch-and-learn sessions for biologics and plasma services.
- Support additional HR projects as assigned.

- Works effectively with HR colleagues and cross-functional departments.
- Participates in HR events and team-building activities.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and HR systems.
- Quick to learn and adopt new HR technologies.
Strict adherence to FDA regulations and company policies is required. This includes completing compliance training, maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to data privacy regulations, participating in compliance reviews, reporting potential issues, and staying updated on regulatory changes.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience: Five or more years of Human Resources experience.
