Job Description:

Database Administrator on the iSeries/AS400

Responsibilities include:

Setup and configure Data Mirror High Availability on the iSeries.

Performance tuning and day-to-day maintenance of the iSeries DB2 database.

Configuring alerts for Tivoli monitoring for DB2.

Analysis, design, and programming on the iSeries (AS400) systems.

Enhancing Scan out systems and designing and implementing automated FTP processes with enhanced auto recovery.

Designing, programming, and performance testing a distributed database across an AS400 network.

Analyzing AS/400 performance and providing technical assistance with capacity planning.

Developing in-house Multi-Language Enablement tools and providing technical expertise at client sites.

Managing Infomag Consultants and designing/programming AS400 Synon Order entry systems and other support systems for order entry.

Setting up SQL Triggers, managing security, and supporting Data Mirror Transformation Server and Data Mirror High Availability.

Journal maintenance, backup and recovery, and SQL table design.

Providing technical support for database-related issues.

Data replication configuration and maintenance using Mimix.

LPAR monitoring and management.

Deploying IBM i System upgrades to 6.1 and 7.1 of IBM i OS along with third-party product upgrades.

Developing system dashboard for IBM i monitoring and load testing.

Implementing column-level encryption on the IBM I DB2 database.

Deploying Net IQ and Bsafe Security solutions.

IBM I Database and performance monitoring using IBM iDoctor Job watcher and Performance Navigator.

Developing SQL analysis and review.

SQL Deployments and Journal Management.

Developing an automatic Journal management system using an audit journal scraper to automatically journal tables.

Automating SQL plan Cache Reporting.

Developing an automated alter table and multi-threaded copy process to speed table alters for SQL.

Developing a fully automated table reorganization process to run Reorg while active.

Involvement in Power 9 with Vios and LPM and SRR upgrade project.

Monitoring and managing SQL Server databases within the Data Management department.

Installing and configuring SQL 2000 and 2005.

Carrying out performance tuning and troubleshooting, backup, and recovery.

Configuring and maintaining Data Mirror Transformation Services.

Installing and configuring DB2 on AIX and Windows and developing the implementation strategy for DB2.

Configuring Tivoli Storage Manager to work with DB2 on AIX and Windows.

Experience using DMS and SMS databases.

Configuring and installing Tivoli monitoring for databases on SQL Server and DB2.

Project and Technical lead for the deployment of new Power 6 hardware and the V5R4 IBM i to V6R1 IBM i OS upgrade.

Project and Technical lead for the migration of WEA's data warehouse from the development partition to a standalone production partition.

Implementing Single Sign-On solution on the IBM i.

Implementing IBM Info Print, automated PDF emailing, and SharePoint distribution services from the IBM i.
