American Association of Caregiving Youth® – Volunteer Manager

Purpose of position: To recruit, train, and support a dedicated volunteer team that provides vital assistance to Caregiving Youth through tutoring, mentoring, and community events. This role focuses on matching volunteers to needs, engaging them in meaningful work, and maximizing their positive impact on the lives of youth and their families while supporting the mission and growth of AACY.

Reports to: Caregiving Youth Project Director

Goals of Volunteer Manager
  • Establish a safe, effective, efficient outreach program to engage the community and support Caregiving Youth.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain a dedicated, caring, engaged, and delighted volunteer team committed to AACY’s mission.
  • Manage the tutoring and mentoring programs that provide direct support to Caregiving Youth.
  • Collaborate with the AACY team to support and coordinate Caregiving Youth activities across various locations.
  • Contribute to AACY’s growth, development, and financial sustainability by working within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Recruit, recognize, educate, match, track and retain a variety of volunteers to participate in all aspects of client care, special events for youth and fundraising, and organizational development.
  • Match client and volunteer needs, while making necessary adjustments and scheduling changes, including home visit for matching, and maximize the utilization of volunteers to assure AACY care standards are maintained.
  • Oversee tutoring program which includes securing all documentation from tutors, assigning students as needed and oversight of payment for services.
  • Develop and promote collaboration with community agencies, public offices, healthcare professionals, family members, and the public.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings.
  • Monitor and fulfill Mentor Center grant requirements as a component of the M.A.C.Y. (Mentor A Caregiving Youth) program.
  • Facilitate special events and contribute to exchanges of information regarding program services, whenever and wherever possible.
  • Track all volunteer hours.
  • Write the quarterly Volunteer View newsletter.
  • Perform a range of administration, fundraising, educational, advocacy, research, and training functions.
  • Communicate regularly with clients, volunteers, and referral sources.
  • Be a resource for technical assistance and development of presentations/training programs.
  • Seek opportunities to speak publicly to promote awareness and education about the issues that the clients, their families, and volunteers face.
  • Process and compile reports on data gathered through volunteer and client services.
  • Explore opportunities for program expansion and volunteer recruitment, including mentoring and tutoring.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned and mutually agreed to.
Qualifications
  • Background in social services, education or other pertinent fields with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and at least five years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Awareness and understanding of current research, programs, legislation, and information related to youth who are caregivers, and family care.
  • Willing to participate in all aspects of fund raising that are vital for organizational viability.
  • Creative and flexible while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Leadership and management ability in working with clients, volunteers, co- workers, congregations, community members and groups.
  • Excellent communication with oral, listening, and written skills along with computer, internet, and social media skills.
  • Self-directed and motivated to effect change.
  • Willing to build strong and healthy relationships.
  • Knowledge of Palm Beach County and multiple language skills helpful but not required.
  • Personable with professional appearance.
  • Work Location and Allocation of Time

    Time will be spent in the AACY office, at recruiting sites and other agency and activity related locations in various areas of Palm Beach County. After successful probationary period may work remotely one day/week. Must be able to work some nights and weekends as AACY needs evolve.
