Cloud Architect

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Architect to drive the technical direction and architectural evolution of our cloud-based IoT Connectivity and Device Management platform.

The platform comprises distributed, Go-based backend services supporting IoT device connectivity, device management, telemetry, web-based applications, and integrations with external systems and cloud providers.

The successful candidate will own architectural decisions, guide the design and implementation of scalable and reliable services, and establish engineering standards that support platform performance, security, maintainability, and long-term evolution.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on architecture and engineering direction rather than people management. The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on Go development experience with a strong understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, data platforms, and production operations.

Architecture and Technical Direction

• Own and evolve the technical architecture and design principles for Go-based IoT Platform (IoTP) services.
• Define architectural patterns, service boundaries, integration approaches, and technical standards across the platform.
• Evaluate technology choices and architectural trade-offs, balancing scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, and delivery requirements.
• Identify architectural risks, technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for platform modernization.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, document key technical decisions, and guide engineering teams in implementing agreed solutions.

Backend Engineering and Distributed Systems

• Architect and guide the implementation of scalable, fault-tolerant backend services and APIs using Go/Golang.
• Apply strong expertise in Go concurrency, go routines, channels, synchronization, asynchronous processing, resource management, and performance profiling.
• Design distributed services that handle high-volume, concurrent workloads with appropriate resilience, back pressure, timeout, retry, and error-handling strategies.
• Define service-to-service communication patterns, API contracts, and event-driven integration approaches.
• Establish best practices for code quality, automated testing, maintainability, and efficient resource utilization.

IoT Connectivity and Protocol Integration

• Architect services and interfaces supporting IoT device connectivity, management, and telemetry using protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, and LwM2M.
• Guide integrations with LoRaWAN networks and associated device and network management systems, where applicable.
• Design interfaces supporting web-based clients and applications using HTTPS/REST APIs, Web Sockets, and other appropriate communication mechanisms.
• Define integration patterns for third-party cloud platforms, hyper-scalers, and external systems exposing REST and SOAP APIs.
• Ensure protocol and integration implementations address reliability, interoperability, security, and scalability requirements.

Data Architecture and Persistence

• Design and optimize data storage, retrieval, indexing, caching, and search strategies using MongoDB, Redis, and Elasticsearch/ELK technologies.
• Apply appropriate data modeling and persistence patterns for device metadata, configuration, telemetry-related information, and operational data.
• Address database performance, query efficiency, index design, caching effectiveness, capacity planning, and data growth.
• Evaluate relational databases and other storage technologies where required by platform functionality and consistency requirements.

Cloud-Native Architecture and Deployment

• Architect and guide deployment of platform services on AWS, including cloud infrastructure, service dependencies, networking, security, and operational integration. Design and support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Apply cloud-native design principles for availability, horizontal scaling, resilience, resource efficiency, and operational maintainability.
• Work with Dev Ops and SRE teams to improve observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, incident response, and production reliability.
• Establish and improve CI/CD practices using Jenkins and associated build, test, release, and deployment automation.

Security and Identity

• Incorporate security principles into service architecture, API design, and cloud deployments.
