About Our School
We are a welcoming, inclusive secondary school in Bodmin, Cornwall with a strong commitment to supporting children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND). Our specialist provision is an integral part of our school community, enabling pupils aged 11-16 to access a personalised curriculum within a structured, nurturing environment while maintaining meaningful links with mainstream classes where appropriate.

The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher to join our specialist SEND provision. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs, supporting both their academic progress and social development.
We welcome applications from:
- Experienced SEND teachers
- Mainstream secondary teachers looking to transition into specialist education
Full training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development in SEND will be provided.
What We Are Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS (essential)
- A strong interest in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND) and associated needs
- A patient, nurturing, and adaptable teaching approach
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
- A commitment to inclusion and developing pupils' independence
- Willingness to undertake specialist training such as TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, and sensory-informed practice
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning profiles
- Create a structured, supportive classroom environment that promotes communication and emotional regulation
- Use effective behaviour support strategies rooted in understanding of SEND
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, contributing to EHCP targets and reviews
- Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals
- Build strong partnerships with parents and carers
- Contribute to the wider life of the school and uphold high professional standards
