Head of Engineering and Infrastructure, Cornwall

Our client is a highly complex, asset-intensive industrial organisation operating across a diverse network of production facilities, infrastructure assets, utilities and critical operational systems. As part of a broader transformation journey, they are seeking an exceptional engineering leader to help shape the future engineering model of the organisation and create greater consistency, reliability and functional excellence across the platform.

Operating as a key member of the senior leadership team, this is a broad and influential position spanning engineering strategy, infrastructure, reliability, asset performance, continuous improvement and capital investment. The successful candidate will lead central engineering and continuous improvement activities whilst helping to create a more integrated and coordinated engineering function across a complex multi-site environment.

The role will take on more responsibility over time.

Success in the role will depend as much on building credibility and relationships as it will on technical expertise. You will be someone who enjoys bringing people together, influencing without relying solely on hierarchy, and balancing long-term strategic priorities with immediate operational demands.

This is a role well suited to an engineering leader with a breadth of well-grounded engineering skills who relishes both challenge and the opportunity to make a significant impact. Truly unlike any other engineering leadership role, success will require an outstanding leader, highly effective communicator and skilled influencer capable of engaging a diverse stakeholder group and leading through both direct authority and functional influence.

The Person

  • Building materials
  • Chemicals and process industries
  • Energy-intensive manufacturing
  • Large-scale operational asset management

The successful candidate is likely to bring:

  • Chartered or professionally qualified engineering credentials
  • Strong electrical and/or multi-disciplinary engineering expertise
  • Experience leading engineering within a complex operational environment
  • A track record of improving reliability, asset performance and engineering standards
  • Significant OPEX and CAPEX responsibility
  • Experience operating across matrix organisations and multiple stakeholder groups

The Opportunity

The is an excellent opportunity to influence the future direction of a significant industrial platform, combining engineering leadership, infrastructure stewardship, organisational transformation and long-term strategic impact.
