Mental Health Healthcare Assistant, Grade Band 3

Contract:

12 months (Fixed‑term)

Hours:

full time or part time (37.5 hours per week)

Site:
Bodmin Hospital, Town Bodmin
Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum (Pro‑rata)

• Provide person‑centred care for patients in an acute dementia ward, supporting assessment, treatment and rehabilitation.
• Support patients with acute mental health crisis, safeguarding against self‑harm, self‑neglect and harm to others.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including nurses, consultants, occupational therapists and activity coordinators.
• Maintain a safe working environment for both staff and patients.
• Plan and deliver nursing care in line with NHS standards and local policies, including recovery‑oriented practices.
• Document and report patient observations, interventions and any incidents in line with clinical governance.

• NVQ Level 3 qualification in care or equivalent experience.
• Training in venepuncture or willingness to undertake relevant training.

• Experience working with patients who have complex mental health needs.
• Experience working with patients who have complex care needs and dementia.
• Knowledge of recovery and rehabilitation principles.
