Healthcare Assistant – Bodmin CATU

Successful applicants will be invited to attend a Selection Day at Carew House, Bodmin on 24 July 2026.

We are looking for experienced Healthcare Assistants for Bodmin Community Assessment and Treatment Unit (CATU) / Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) Unit, which has 24 beds and a day case bed.

Contract:
Full time, permanent, rotational duties 19:30‑08:00 and 07:30‑20:00, 7 days a week.

This position is only open to current NHS employees within Cornwall or the Isles of Scilly.

Eligible organisations:
Cornwall Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board.

• Assist in the delivery of clinical care, planned and assessed by Registered Nurses.
• Carry out care and other duties under indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Senior Health Care Assistant.
• Support patients day‑to‑day in a manner sensitive to individual needs, acknowledging their rights and beliefs.
• Contribute to resource management within the clinical area.

• NVQ Level 2 in Health Care or equivalent.
• Clinical skills such as venepuncture, blood transfusion, aseptic non‑touch technique.
• NVQ Level 3 in Direct Care (preferred).
• Previous hospital experience.
• Adaptability to cope with changing workload.
• Ability to competently organise and execute designated workload within scope of prior training.

This post requires a Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Salary: £25,760 to £27,476 per annum (pro‑rata).
