About the role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Minor Injuries (MIU) Practitioner to join our in‑house flexi team. You will provide frontline care and manage patients presenting with undifferentiated minor injuries and ailments, working collaboratively with other health‑care professionals to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and patient‑centred care.

Main duties
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients with undifferentiated minor injuries and illnesses such as lacerations, sprains, fractures, bites, stings, infected wounds, head injuries, eye problems, sports injuries, minor burns and scalds.
  • Perform wound closure and minor joint and fracture reduction.
  • Request radiological investigations within the established protocols.
  • Educate patients and families about injury prevention and post‑treatment care.
  • Collaborate with other health‑care professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date patient records.
  • Participate in continuous professional development and training sessions.
Working for the organisation

We are an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, delivering community and hospital‑based care to improve people’s physical and mental health.

Education, Qualifications and Relevant Experience
  • Current professional registration – NMC / HCPC.
  • Postgraduate specialist training to degree level in a relevant subject area incorporating minor illness.
  • Substantial post‑registration practice in MIU, ED/Emergency Care or similar.
  • Experience in managing a team/service.
Skills and Aptitude
  • Ability to act calmly in emergencies and respond in a professional manner.
  • Strong commitment to teaching and learning.
Requirements and Disclosure

You must have appropriate UK professional registration. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
