Summary

St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School is seeking dedicated, faith‑filled teachers who desire to cultivate a love of learning and a love of the Lord in their students through the beauty of the Catholic intellectual tradition. The school opened in the fall of 2025 with PK3‑6th grade and plans to expand through 7th grade and increase the number of class sections in earlier grade levels in the coming school year.

Position

Responsibilities
  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic classical education and the mission of the school.
  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by joyfully modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and of the Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.
  • Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis; ensures the safety and well‑being of self and others.
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
  • Uses a solution‑oriented approach in interactions and undertakings.
  • Acts as a team player; promotes collaboration and commitment to the mission, vision, and culture of the school.
  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Planning & Instruction
  • Develops and implements lessons aligned with Catholic classical curriculum and pedagogy; meets campus‑wide lesson planning requirements.
  • Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, Department of Catholic Schools (DCS), and administrative regulations.
  • Collaborates with faculty to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to DCS requirements.
  • Makes learning accessible for all students by incorporating accommodations and modifications into lessons as applicable.
  • Creates a classroom environment of joyful order to allow fruitful learning to take place.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and uses results to plan instructional activities.
  • Plans and supervises assignments of teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s), if applicable.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials as required.
Student Growth & Development
  • Coaches students to develop moral and intellectual virtue.
  • Supports student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Supervises students during non‑instructional periods of the day (e.g., recess, dismissal) and during school‑sponsored activities (e.g., field trips, academic celebrations).
  • Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
Communication & Organization
  • Maintains an accurate, up‑to‑date gradebook and periodically provides both narrative evaluations and overall grades for students.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, principal, and fellow faculty members.
  • Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Uses effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Professional Development
  • Participates in faculty development activities to grow in love of the Catholic intellectual tradition and the ability to enact a Catholic classical curriculum with excellence.
  • Attends and participates in weekly faculty meetings; serves on staff committees as required.
  • Keeps informed of and complies with DCS regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
