Job Description
The Nurse Anesthetist Services Manager leads operations, performance improvement, safety, and human resources management for anesthesia services. The role is a hands‑on functional manager who also provides clinical anesthesia services to patients, prepares solutions, administers anesthetics, communicates with physicians during anesthesia, performs pre‑ and post‑anesthesia visits, and documents anesthesia notes.
Responsibilities- Manage daily operations of the anesthesia department.
- Develop capital and operational budgets for approval by the department director.
- Document staffing and budget needs and recommend changes.
- Coordinate purchasing and utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to planning goals, objectives, and assist in coordinating activities and programs.
- Recruit, hire, counsel, evaluate, and terminate personnel in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Develop work schedules, on‑call arrangements, and emergency changes with anesthesia staff.
- Set productivity goals and measurements.
- Maintain quality improvement programs in partnership with hospital programs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Oversee education of students and facility in‑service educational activities.
- Represent nurse anesthesia at hospital conferences, committees, and serve as an interdepartmental liaison.
- Follow hospital pharmacy policy on controlled substances.
- Perform all aspects of clinical anesthesia administration as scheduled.
- Provide clinical anesthesia care in accordance with CRNA job description and privileges.
- Promote patient safety through participation in safety initiatives and by addressing observed risks.
- Report adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authorities.
- Use effective communication skills with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
- Demonstrate professional involvement in teaching, research, publishing, or certification.
- Apply clinical skills regularly as a nurse anesthetist in the facility setting.
- Operate and interpret data from anesthesia equipment to support patient safety.
- Show knowledge of growth and development principles for varying patient populations.
- Five (5) years of CRNA supervisory experience.
- Master’s Degree in Nursing.
