Certified Nursing Assistant – Medicine Unit – Our Lady of the Angels
Job Description
The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. The Nursing Assistant assists with patient cleaning, feeding, and preparation for treatment, takes and records vital signs, changes bed linen, prepares treatment trays and other supplies, and assists nursing service personnel with a variety of other patient care duties.
Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal hygiene and bed linen changes.
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and blood glucose levels via glucometer.
- Perform physical repositioning, ambulation, and assisted ADL under RN direction.
- Answer call lights promptly; follow patient fall and armband safety policy.
- Organize and follow through with patient assignments as directed.
- Actively involve in activities to enhance patient satisfaction.
- Utilize time efficiently and maintain professional appearance.
- Assume ongoing education and professional development.
- Respond to fire, safety, and disaster situations.
- Use PPE appropriately for optimal protection.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
