Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to be part of the opening team of a brand-new children’s home, supporting up to three young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

As a Senior Support Worker, you'll play a key role in creating that environment while also providing leadership, guidance and positive role modelling to the wider team.

The Role

You'll work as part of a dedicated team to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care and support. You'll build trusting relationships with young people, help them develop independence and life skills, and support them through challenging moments with patience, consistency and understanding.

You'll also take a lead role on shift, supporting colleagues, providing guidance and acting as a positive role model. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to structured supervisions, team development and the consistent implementation of therapeutic approaches including PACE and trauma-informed care.

The role involves working on a shift-based rota, including two sleep-ins per week, evenings and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

* Build positive, trusting relationships with young people and support their emotional wellbeing and development.

* Use therapeutic approaches, including PACE and trauma-informed practice, to support positive outcomes.

* Provide positive behaviour support and physical intervention in line with training and organisational policy.

* Lead and support colleagues on shift, acting as a positive role model and contributing to structured supervisions.

* Conduct and contribute to risk assessments to safeguard children and young people.

* Coordinate and attend meetings with schools, social workers, local authorities and other professionals.

* Liaise with social workers, families and healthcare professionals.

* Administer and accurately document medication in line with training and policy.

* Raise safeguarding or welfare concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential.

You'll ideally have experience working with children or young people in a residential, care, education, therapeutic or similar setting. Experience supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, trauma or challenging behaviour would be particularly valuable.

You'll need:

* An understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches such as PACE.

* The emotional resilience to remain calm, consistent and professional during challenging situations.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* The ability to build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.

* Confidence to lead and support colleagues and act as a positive role model.

* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleep-ins.

* An NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent qualification.
