At GE Aerospace, we invent the future of flight, lift people up and bring them home safely. Located in Bohemia, Long Island, New York, and Rockledge, Florida, GE Aerospace’s Hypersonics Center of Excellence builds on GE’s 125+ years of industrial research heritage coupled with Innoveering’s legacy of high-speed air-breathing propulsion system development, tackling the most challenging engineering problems through multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative technologies.
Together, we create and sustain differentiated solutions to maintain competitive advantages for GE Aerospace and our customers. Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team.
Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.
GE Aerospace is seeking a Propulsion Performance Engineer to support the development and testing of flowpaths for hypersonic air-breathing propulsion systems. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to design, analyze, test, and mature propulsion technologies that contribute to the development of flight-ready hardware. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer with a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, analytical methods, and test support.
You will contribute to advanced propulsion applications through computational analysis, hardware validation, and cross-functional problem solving in a highly collaborative technical environment.
You will work in a team that performs research and development of fluid delivery systems in support of hypersonic air-breathing propulsion and vehicle systems.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design, analyze, and test flowpaths for high-speed air-breathing engines, using results to inform the design of flight-ready systems.
- Apply core engineering principles to technical assignments and flowpath development activities.
- Lead and participate in computational analyses to guide design improvements, using both spreadsheet-based tools, propulsion deck generation tools, and leveraging results generated using CFD, FEA and multiphysics solvers.
- Document and communicate assumptions, inputs, analysis methods, and proposed solutions to multidisciplinary teams for technical review.
- Support the validation of new designs and technologies through test activities.
- Prepare presentations and briefing materials to communicate technical ideas, project status, and recommendations.
- Work effectively with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to develop and verify design solutions that meet program objectives for technical performance, cost, and schedule.
- Interact with industry partners and subcontractors to review analyses, concepts, and design approaches.
- Demonstrate a working understanding of business drivers and how individual work integrates with team and program goals.
- Exercise sound technical judgment within defined procedures and seek guidance from senior team members when needed.
- Build effective working relationships across teams and clearly explain technical information to others.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in a relevant job family or function
- 0-3 years of experience in the design, analysis, and…
