Aerospace / Aviation / Avionics, Mechanical Engineer, Systems Engineer
At GE Aerospace, we are advancing aviation technologies for today and tomorrow. Your work will contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft. You will be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, you will share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world.
Aboutthe Role
This is a project lead and individual contributor role at the center of hypersonic propulsion development. As Project Engineer, you will work with the Program Manager to lead the design and development of advanced hypersonic propulsion systems, owning both the technical scope and the project objectives so that every program requirement is delivered. Based in Bohemia, NY, with an additional posting in Rockledge, FL, you will lead multidisciplinary teams through analysis, design, manufacturing, validation, and test.
You will work with autonomy, guided by established policies and review of end results, and you will plan and run project operations while staying hands-on in your technical discipline.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver the technical scope of the project across analysis, design, manufacturing, validation, and test
- Apply knowledge of high-speed propulsion and operability principles, fluid dynamics, and aero-thermal mechanical systems to make informed decisions that speed development of the prototype system
- Identify technical risks early, lead mitigation plans, manage trade studies, and escape with clear options and recommendations
- Ensure engineering outputs meet internal procedures, configuration control, and applicable regulatory and airworthiness requirements
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles, and adhere to business standards, practices, procedures, and product and program requirements
- Perform mechanical and/or electrical engineering work for all products
- Lead new approaches that continuously improve a process, and participate in or lead group problem solving, value stream analysis, or kaizen efforts
You are an engineer who can lead a project and still do the technical work yourself. You are analytical, you challenge existing processes, and you think critically about hard problems. You are comfortable owning a technical scope from design through test, spotting risks before they grow, and bringing a clear recommendation to the table. You work well with autonomy, you explain technical data clearly to customers, and you pull multidisciplinary teams toward a common goal.
