Part-Time Crossing Guard (Ongoing Opportunities)

Works with the Supervisor of Safety & Security to ensure school safety requirements are met for children crossing the street. Typical work hours are between 7:00am and 8:00am and 2:30pm to 4:00pm. Opportunities to support needs on evening and weekend for other school district events.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess experience communicating with children
• Must possess good interpersonal relationship skills using tact, patience and courtesy, particularly with respect to children
• Must have the ability to handle situations that may occur with children at the crossing
• Must have the ability to deal with dissatisfied individuals
• Must have good attendance

• Directs school children to cross the street at the crossing signal
• Controls vehicular traffic as necessary consistent with the safety of all concerned to assure safe crossing for children
• Controls traffic when necessary for the safe travel of children
• Wears safety vest while directing traffic and/or crossing children
• Instructs all school children to walk at the crossing point
• Must be dependable and punctual
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or his/her designee
