Job SummaryThe project accountant will work within the Project Accounting Team, reporting to the Lead Project Accountant, and closely collaborate with the accounting department and various internal and external departments. Responsibilities include monitoring project progress, investigating variances, approving expenses, and ensuring project billings are issued to customers and payments collected. This full‑time position is based at the project site in Boise, .
EssentialResponsibilities
- Process bi‑monthly subcontractor billings and all material invoices for the project.
- Process monthly subcontract billings and all material invoices for the project.
- Develop and maintain files, forms, purchase orders, subcontract files, meeting minutes, and miscellaneous forms.
- Support the bi‑monthly billing process to client and quarterly accounting reports for the corporate office.
- Work with the lead project accountant to obtain tax‑related documentation to support the sub‑contract billing cycle and the owner’s tax exemption requirements.
- Monitor and ensure that all data requirements are satisfied in accordance with the established budgets and schedules.
- Manage technical information required to deliver projects, lead problem‑solving and communications efforts.
- Track and report accounting indicators.
- Copy, file, and mail/distribute jobsite correspondence.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or General Business Management preferred.
- At least three (3) years of accounting and/or office management experience in the construction, engineering, or architectural field required.
- Experience with cost accounting, AP/AR functions, contract administration, invoice processing/auditing, and its relationship within the construction industry.
- Experience in a similar accounting role within the construction industry preferred.
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams). Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, sub‑totaling) preferred.
- Proficient in Tier I accounting or ERP software;
Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise‑One experience desired. - Experience organizing technical data accurately.
- Familiarity with advanced job costing or relevant cost accounting experience preferred.
- Team player with strong interpersonal, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work well in a high‑pressure, large‑professional setting.
- Combination of sitting, walking, and standing throughout the workday.
- Ability to climb stairs (20% of day).
- Constant use of hands/fingers for computer use.
- Vision: visual acuity in near, mid, and far‑range vision with color, peripheral, and depth perception; hand/eye coordination.
- Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, over telephone, and radio; sufficient to hear alarms.
- Speech: sufficient to be heard in person, speak before groups, and be understood over telephone and radio.
- Lift/Carry: up to 50 lb (computer/drawings) – minimal.
- Bending/Twisting: minimal.
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: minimal.
- Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
- Work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
- Use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem‑solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
- Plan and organize work.
- Strong organizational and computer skills; high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction‑related documentation and communicate with coworkers.
