Western Trailers is seeking an experienced Accountant with strong technical accounting skills to support a manufacturing business with multiple entities and ownership structures. The ideal candidate brings hands-on manufacturing and cost accounting experience, a thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP, and the ability to turn financial data into clear, actionable reports for leadership.
Experience Level:- Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple entities and ownership structures, including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and allocations.
- Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Support manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory valuation, work in process, overhead allocation, and analysis of material, labor, and production variances.
- Apply U.S. GAAP to accounting transactions, research technical issues, and document accounting conclusions.
- Create financial reports and management reporting packages that clearly explain operating results, profitability, trends, and performance against budget.
- Partner with leadership and operations to evaluate costs, identify opportunities for improvement, and support business decisions.
- Strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting accuracy.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and external audit support.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience accounting for multiple entities with different ownership interests, including intercompany activity; familiarity with consolidations and eliminations.
- Manufacturing accounting experience with a strong understanding of product costing, inventory, and cost of goods sold.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and the ability to resolve accounting issues independently.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and develop meaningful reports for executive leadership.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP and accounting systems.
- Experience in Microsoft Business Central, CDK Global, Job Boss, and Quick Books is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain financial information to colleagues outside accounting.
- CPA or CMA designation preferred.
