Cost Accountant

We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join our team in Boise, Idaho on a Contract basis. This role focuses on evaluating production expenses, strengthening inventory accuracy, and delivering meaningful insight into product cost and margin performance. The successful candidate will work closely with finance and operations to support period-end activities, monitor cost behavior, and highlight opportunities to improve financial efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Examine manufacturing spending across direct labor, raw materials, and overhead to provide accurate cost visibility.
• Manage standard cost data, assess variances against actual results, and research the underlying drivers of cost fluctuations.
• Support inventory accounting activities by reconciling balances, assisting with physical count processes, and helping maintain accurate records.
• Contribute to month-end close by preparing cost-related journal entries and validating financial data tied to production activity.
• Develop reporting on product cost, gross margin, and profitability to support business decision-making.
• Collaborate with operational teams to identify cost patterns, explain performance changes, and recommend areas for improvement.
• Help maintain consistency in cost accounting processes and ensure supporting documentation is complete and reliable.
