Position OverviewThe Department of Psychological Science at Boise State University invites interested applicants to apply for two Assistant Teaching Professor positions (under Policy 4730) starting in Fall 2026. We’re seeking innovative and inspiring colleagues who are excited to genuinely engage our undergraduate students and teach primarily our Professional Development Series of courses (PSYC 111, 222, 333, and 444) and occasionally other high‑demands courses, such as Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistical Methods.
Candidates should have prior teaching experience in Psychology coursework in higher education. The successful candidates will also participate in service activities (e.g., committee assignments, curriculum development) that benefit the Department, College of Arts and Sciences, University, as well as the local community, state, region, and discipline.
The successful candidates will join a department dedicated to curriculum and pedagogy that is responsive to the students it serves. They will be able to engage all students in the classroom using evidence‑based and inclusive teaching practices that support personal, professional, and career development. Teaching Faculty positions have an 80% teaching workload and 20% service workload. Flexibility in course modality and scheduling is available.
These are nine‑month academic‑year positions, with opportunities to enhance salary through summer teaching.

Required Qualifications- An earned doctorate in psychology or a related field (open specialty) by August 1, 2026. ABD will be considered pending the conferral of the degree by this date.
- Experience teaching psychology courses at the undergraduate level.
- Experience relevant to guiding students' professional and career development.
- Experience with evidence‑based teaching practices.
- Demonstrated success or potential for success in teaching and service.
- Positive student course evaluations or other evidence of effective teaching (e.g., teaching observations).
- Experience teaching professional development courses and/or mentoring or advising students.
- A breadth of teaching experience (i.e., class sizes and modalities).
- A cover letter outlining your interests and qualifications relating to teaching, student professional development mentoring, and service.
- A current CV.
- Teaching statement, including discussion of implementation of or preparation for evidence‑based teaching practices.
- A summary of teaching effectiveness (e.g., teaching evaluations, observations, etc.).
- The names and contact information for 3 professional references, no letters at this time.
