Job SummaryThe Field Technician III will inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low electrical power equipment, including SF6 and vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and various switches. Technicians will implement safety policies and work with engineering personnel to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
PayUSD 41–62 per hour.
Responsibilities- Lead safety briefings on job site, identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards.
- Perform high, medium, and low voltage testing of electrical power equipment as a crew leader.
- Utilize Human Performance Error Elimination concepts and tools.
- Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot and resolve equipment problems.
- Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
- Lead safety culture and be responsible for other team members.
- Install, test, and maintain electrical apparatus.
- Analyze testing results based on theoretical knowledge.
- Develop and write detailed reports.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Work overtime and travel out of town as needed.
- Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with test equipment such as Power Factor, Ductor, Megger, CT ratio & saturation, Hi‑Pot.
- Knowledge of Circuit Breakers, Low/Medium/High Voltage (LV/MV/HV), Transformers, Switchgear, Motors, PTs & CCVTs.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or military experience preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- NETA I III certification.
- Industry certifications such as Infrared, Corona, Oil Analysis preferred.
- Climb ladders, stand for extended periods, lift up to 70 lbs.
